My Money 2004 was running S-L-O-W on my W98 machine. I
have tons of free HD and was only running Money, a very
small password program, and IE6.

I pulled up the task window and there were three programs
beginning with mis. I ended all the tasks, the final one
being misuser. After this, the computer was as quick as
normal. There is a misuser.exe in the MS Money System
folder. Any ideas on what this program does (besides slow
down my system!) and what setting makes it load?

Thanks.

These are components for the Money Express reminder feature that sits in
your task bar and for the Background Banking feature.

To disable Money Express:

You can turn it off using one of two methods.
If Money is open, click on Tools, Options, Bills and Deposits tab. Uncheck
the Use Money Express option. If Money is not open and you want this feature
disabled, right mouse click on the icon in the System Tray, choose Exit
Money Express, and then click the No option so that Money Express is
disabled and will no longer run on your system.

If you decide after turning it off that you want to use it again, simply
open Money and go to Tools, Options, Bills and Deposits tab. Check the Use
Money Express option and click OK. Your Money Express icon will return.

To disable Background Banking:

1. In the status bar near the bottom lower left corner of the screen, click
Internet Updates, and then click Customize Updates, or from the Tools menu,
choose Internet Updates, and then click Customize Updates.
2. On the Customize Background Banking page, set the preferences you want
(uncheck the box for Quotes and Exchange Rates), and then click Done.
