The procedure is dense and unfathomable to me. First, it
wasted my time insisting that I do Passport, which
apparently is Microsoft's attempt to force me to use
future on-line services through them.

I tried using Quicken backup files from an Iomega disk.
It presumably went through the conversion but did not
appear when I restarted Money.

Similarly, I copied the backup Quicken files to
C:\programfiles\quickenw. Again, no success.

Based on this, I think I'll simply pay to upgrade my
Quicken 2001 and the hell with Microsoft.

Unless you are planning on using background banking you don't need Passport.
Just ignore the prompt for three times and it will stop nagging you.

It isn't your Quicken backup files you should be converting but your main
file *.qbd that you need.
