I have not converted my Money 98 files because of a
continual problem I have had with reports in each newer
Money version. When I auto convert, or manually enter
transactions, they show up on the Performance by
Investment Account report as being in the current year, no
matter what the date is. For example, say I enter a
purchase of $25,000 on 1/1/2000. If I look at a
Performance by Investment Account for 1/1/2003 -
12/31/2003, I will see $25,000 in the "Buys" column, but
if I click on it, there will be no transactions for the
date range. I have contacted MS several times about this,
and no one seems to understand what I am talking about.
Anyone out there have this problem??

I can't recall what this report looked like in the 98 version, but in 2004,
there is not a 'buys' column. There are two columns titled 'value on' and
one is the starting date for the report period and the other is the ending
date. As long as those dates contain transactions, they show up when you
click on the rows. They do not if the dates you specified don't contain
transactions, but the value is still there.

You may want to try the trial version of 2004 first to see how this affects
your file. You can install it into a different folder and still run Money
98. I would recommend making a backup or copy of your 98 file first. A
file is saved upon conversion with an .mn6 extension that you can still open
in 98, but it may be easier to open the copy or the backup.
