The U.S. economy is doing much better than this time 2013. With many people now working, retailers are going all out for your holiday spending dollars.
Do not be fooled into thinking all Black Friday sales are good deals. Always remember that most sales promotions involve the movement of prices to make you believe you’re getting a great deal.
I have been through many black Friday deals, and some of the tricks used to make you buy and pay more will be listed below.
If you search carefully, there are great deals on and some other retailers. Just because one item is one sale does not mean all the other items have good prices.
Here are some of the common tricks used by retailers to get you to over-spend this shopping season.
1 – Inferior Products
Most retailers have products that have been collecting dust at their warehouse, and black Friday is when they try to move them all out. Just because the name says Samsung TV, does not mean that’s the latest version.
Most often, older models are marked down to make way for the newer models.
Occasionally, manufacturers would create a knock-off of a popular selling product with fewer features.
Most consumers buy by name and rarely do they care to read the fine prints as to what model and features they’re getting.
Last year my friend bought a 65 inch HD TV, but it only had limited features because it was just a model created for the holidays selling rush. He paid less than $800 for it, but the television set is just not ready for prime time.
What you need to do to make sure you’re getting the original
A – Read the fine prints of the products you intend to buy. Look closely at the features, to make sure it can do all you have in mind before spending your money.
B – Double check the model numbers as you compare prices. With major electronics brands, it’s easier to determine the model number.
You want to make sure the Microwave oven you saw advertised at Amazon.com is the same model that’s on sale at best buy this shopping season.
2 – Limited Quantities
Personally I hate the word limited quantities because I know it’s just a trick to make one buy now, without doing some comparison shopping.
Only buy limited items if you know the prices advertised is truly the best deal that can be found this Black Friday.
If you shop based on limited sales, you’ll overspend and not get such a great deal on the items you really need.
It’s nice to know some retailers would honor the limited prices advertised, provided you’re online early enough.
Now for the best place to get Awesome Black Friday Deals
I have shopped online for many years through many retailers, and none of them comes close to matching the shopping experience you get from Amazon.
Here are several reasons you should use Amazon low prices as your comparison metrics, when looking for the best shopping deals this black Friday and Cyber Monday.
1 – Lower Prices. I have searched far and wide, and most retailers are not even close as to what you can save by doing all your Black Friday shopping through this giant retailer. If in doubt, use the giant retailer as the main site to compare prices from other retailers.
2 – Instant Coupons. Amazon does not allow manufacturers to ask you to mail in the coupons for further discounts. All the coupons you find on this site are instantly deducted from the discounted price. I am yet to find other retailers with the same setup.
3 – Benefits of Prime Membership. You can try out the prime members benefits for 30 days and get all your delivery free and within two days this shopping season.
All you have to do is cancel before the next billing period, to avoid being charged the annual fee. While I know it’s sneaky, it’s a good way to get your holiday deliveries on time and without delays.
4 – You can read Reviews. You can read the reviews of current customers, before making your final purchase. Even Amazon owned products have reviews most shoppers can trust. Trust me; inferior products will eventually die a slow “no-sales” death.
