initialization failed could not write to registry. My data will not load up

Have you referenced the first question from the Questions/Comments link on
the Portfolio page?
Or the KB article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/165954/en-us

If you have added the suggested sites to "Trusted Sites" and it still fails,
you may have some other security software interfering (firewall, AV, etc).

The article is slightly incorrect.

It references
userprofile\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Money\version
- where 'userprofile' in Vista is C:\Users\JohnDoe and John Doe is the
Vista logon username; and version is 15.0
The correct location in Vista is
userprofile\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Money\15.0
e.g. C:\Users\JohnDoe\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Money\15.0

I think both are correct. In Vista, 'Local Settings' is a Junction under
%userprofile% (do a 'dir /a' in a command prompt on the folder). This is t
allow programs which were written for all versions of Windows to continue to
work on Vista using the same pathnames as before.

They are junctions, though all writing will take place in the AppData etc subfolder.

The correct location in Vista is
> userprofile\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Money\15.0
> e.g. C:\Users\JohnDoe\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Money\15.

If one wishes to look for the pmupdate.exe file presence, they should access the AppData subfolder.

Unfortunately, even with the correct version, pmupdate.exe in the correct folder by webinst.exe, the appropriate web sites added to the trusted zone, and any suggested combination of Active X security permissions one may continue to receive the same erorr message..though it does not impact functionality one only needs to reloads the portfolio without signoff of their LiveId.
