When trying to access "My Portfolio" in MSN Money, I get the following "
MSN Money
Software Installation Error
Your current browser settings prevent web sites from writing information to
your computer's hard disk. These bits of information are saved in files known
as "cookies." In order to use all the features on MSN Money, please change
your browser settings to allow cookies

I contined to get the same message after changing the cookie settings. After
following the instructions in "How to remove and reinstall the MSN Money
Investing" I can not reinstall MSN Investing Components.

When I try to go to http://moneycentral.msn.com/investor/controls/setup.asp,
I get directed to
http://moneycentral.msn.com/investor/controls/enablecookies.asp, which takes
to the the "Software Installation Error" page again.

I Have IE 7 , and Windows XP.

Please advise,
Thank you,
Larry S.

Try creating a temporary XP administrative user and try accessing
the portfolio as that user.

The theory is that if the problem is an IE setting, you will get
default settings for the new user. If you succeed this way, would
point toward the reason things were not working. You can delete
the new user later, and your regular IE settings will not have been
changed. You could then start changing those to defaults, starting
with the LocalIntranet zone.

What I was suggesting is
Start->Settings->ControlPanel->UserAccounts->CreateANewAccount

http://moneycentral.msn.com/pmquestions.asp may have some useful
information.

Cal: I continue to get the same cookie message when trying to access my
portfolio even while on the new administrative account, as you described. I
think did, however, fine the source of the problem. My son downloaded a free
software called Quick Heel PC Tuner made by CAT Computer services. He ran the
registry clean tool to try to increase the preformance of my computer. Their
restore feature didn't correct the problem. I didn't find anything that
could help from Moneycentral Pmquestions. Any suggestions ?
Thanks,
Larry S.

Good. What that accomplished is to indicate that resetting all of
your IE settings to defaults would not fix the problem. So at this
point, you could leave those settings alone. You might want to keep
that user temporarily for testing in case you still have problems
after uninstall and reinstall of the Deluxe portfolio.

I have no knowledge of Quick Heel PC Tuner made by CAT Computer
services. If your son has been installing stuff, you might want to
scan your computer for malware.

If we assume the problem is the registry entries got messed up, I
would uninstall and reinstall the Deluxe portfolio. See
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/176841

There could also be other useful info in
http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/common/pmquestions.aspx , which
references that article.
