hi
i hope someone can help me with this. how can i categorize purchase returns
to accurately reflect my spending? i don't want to categorize it as
"income", and it's not a spending either?
i routinely buy & return clothes, but i can't find anything in Money that
will let me categorize them & deduct from the clothing category. when i look
at my clothing spending, it's a lot more than i actually spend because it
doesn't take into account the returns.
i don't think i should categorize them as income, as it'll mess up the
income report, but it's also not a spending! help!!!
thanks
jin

The best way for most people to handle returns is to use the
same category that was used to make the original purchase. If
you get a warning, accept the warning.
For returns with negative expense category, On the Spending by
Category report, select Customize:Details->Type:All Types
Under the Categories tab, click Expense Categories. Un-check
IncludeTransfers. That will make income and transfer items not be
included. You can change the inclusion of categories individually
too.
The group for Microsoft Money is microsoft.public.money. If you use
the MS web interface, they call that "Money General".
