I posted the following question a long time ago. The problem
persists, even after extensive upgrading of the Money Central
site/program. Has anyone found a cure yet? Has Microsoft ever even
acknowledged the problem?

<
On both machines, IE 6.0 crashes every time I accept the program's
offer to record newly reported dividends. I can avoid the crashes
only by clicking "no" on the window offering to record the dividends.

This has been going on for about a year and after many
automatically-generated error reports have been sent to Microsoft.

Isn't anyone else having this problem? Is there a work-around other
than not recording dividends?>>

I am having th esame problem and just never accept the
offer to record the dividend, stock splits, etc. I allow
those to be updated via the MS Money 2004 program, and
then synchronized into the msn investor site.

I've been working on this problem with a MS Tech for a couple of
weeks. Just discovered today that the problem is related to the
grouping of stocks in the portfolio. If you use grouping by "account"
instead pf by "position," the problem should go away -- at least it
does on my computer.

William:

This is a follow-up to my previous reply.

After two weeks of of working with MS on this problem, the (tentative)
conclusion is that there is something being downloaded from my broker
into Investor Portfolio -- for only one of two downloaded accounts --
that is causing this problem.

It would help test that conclusion if you could answer some questions
about your experience with the issue:

1. Was your original MS Investor Portfolio data downloaded from a
brokerage account?

2. Did you download data for more than one brokerage account?

3. Does the "dividend notice IE crash" in Investor occur if the stock
data are grouped by position when the dividend notice arrives?

4. Does the crash occur if the stock data are grouped by account when
the dividend notice arrives?

It's clear that others have this problem of an IE crash following a
dividend notice but MS had apparently been unable to replicate the
problem until I contributed information and worked with them.

My answer to the first three of the above questions is "yes" and to
the fourth is "no." That forms a critical part of the MS conclusion
that something downloaded from one of my brokerage accounts is
responsible for the problem. I'm skeptical. Your answers to the
questions would help determine whether their tentative conclusion is
sustainable.

Thanks,
Joe Carrier
